Rosselli — AX Privilege is a refined lifestyle hotel set within a 17th-century palazzo in the heart of Valletta, where historic architecture forms the backdrop for a distinctly contemporary hospitality experience. Defined by its flanked windows, generous ceiling heights, and strong architectural symmetry, the building itself establishes a sense of grandeur and balance that underpins the hotel’s identity. With 25 individually designed rooms across six distinct collections, each drawing inspiration from different periods and settings, the hotel offers a series of one-off interiors that feel both timeless and characterful.
The interior concept is an eclectic fusion of styles, carefully curated to blur the boundaries between art and design. Each room collection is crafted as a complete narrative, resulting in spaces that are expressive yet harmonious. This layered design approach creates a dreamy, almost whimsical atmosphere, while remaining grounded in functionality and comfort, ensuring that the historic shell of the palazzo is celebrated rather than overshadowed.
Across both private rooms and public areas, the design language is unified through composite marble flooring, intricate wood panelling, and hand-crafted brass inlays, elements that extend seamlessly throughout the hotel. These rich material foundations are elevated with geometric textiles and modern patterns, adding depth and visual rhythm to the interiors. The spaces are completed with carefully selected designer furniture, reworking classic design icons through a contemporary lens and reinforcing the project’s emphasis on craftsmanship and detail.
SAW contributed to the project through a comprehensive joinery scope, including cladding with concealed arched doors, the reception desk, entrance unit, feature box frames, wall panelling, bespoke joinery items, and internal apertures. Each element was produced with precision to complement the hotel’s architectural heritage while supporting its modern, expressive interior vision. The result is a cohesive environment where bespoke craftsmanship enhances both the spatial experience and the character of this distinctive boutique hotel.
