In 2020, SAW undertook the prestigious interior fit-out and furnishing of the Hyatt Regency Malta, a landmark 5-star development in the heart of St Julian’s. Delivered during a period of global uncertainty, the project demanded exceptional coordination and adaptability. Despite the challenges posed by pandemic restrictions, SAW successfully maintained a seamless workflow on site, completing the project within just 22 weeks and to the uncompromising standards expected of an international hospitality brand.
The scope covered both guestroom and public area fit-outs, encompassing every interior element from doors to bespoke furniture. Throughout the hotel, SAW installed an extensive range of high-performance doors, including 42 dB acoustic models for guestrooms, 30-, 60-, and 120-minute fire-rated doors, and standard internal variants all tailored to meet the operational and safety requirements of a high-occupancy environment.
In the 151 guestrooms, the team produced and installed a complete suite of custom furniture, balancing function with refined aesthetics. Each piece from sofa beds and bedside tables to wardrobes, vanities, and chairs was meticulously crafted using a blend of veneer and metal finishes. SAW also designed bespoke light fittings, combining leather and metal for a distinct visual signature, and oversaw the production of custom-made wallpaper to achieve a cohesive interior identity.
Beyond the rooms, SAW curated and installed loose furniture for the reception, pool bar, spa, meeting rooms, and restaurants, sourcing from renowned international brands including Moroso, Varaschin, and La Palma. The project’s centrepiece, a sculptural reception counter crafted from curved timber with a rich copper-effect finish embodies the hotel’s contemporary elegance and serves as a striking focal point upon entry. The result is a harmonious and luxurious interior, reflecting SAW’s ability to deliver large-scale hospitality projects with precision, artistry, and technical excellence.
