In 2023, SAW was entrusted with the full interior fit-out of the AC Hotel by Marriott in St Julian’s, Malta, a high-profile international hospitality project delivered within a strict 16-week deadline. This turnkey contract encompassed every aspect of the hotel’s interior architecture and furnishings, spanning 106 guestrooms as well as public areas including the spa, pool deck, and restaurants, ensuring a seamless, cohesive guest experience.
Our joinery works included the installation of 415 doors throughout the hotel, comprising both 30-minute fire-rated doors for guestrooms and 60-minute fire-rated doors for corridors, alongside comprehensive wall panelling and public area joinery. Each guestroom was furnished with a full suite of bespoke furniture, including wardrobes, wall mirrors, TV panels, luggage racks, headboards, bed bases, bedside tables, footstools, coffee tables, armchairs, vanity units, and outdoor balcony furniture, delivering both functionality and luxury.
Beyond the guestrooms, we crafted custom reception counters, buffet units, spa furniture, bookcases for the lounge area, and bespoke restaurant seating and décor, ensuring every element aligned with Marriott’s elevated brand standards. Materials played a central role in the design, with metals, solid woods, natural veneers, and stainless steel with a burnt finish used thoughtfully across the project. Many pieces also featured solid surface tops and mixed-material detailing, creating a refined aesthetic while ensuring durability for high-traffic areas.
Despite the ambitious scope and tight programme, the project was delivered seamlessly, highlighting SAW’s expertise in handling complex, large-scale international hospitality projects. Our team’s meticulous attention to detail, combined with efficient project management, ensured that every element was completed on time, upholding the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship throughout.
